I'm intrigued by the "escaped" production, it looks like this:

escaped: ESCAPE STAR STAR | ESCAPE .;
where ESCAPE is a tilde and STAR is an asterisk. I'm not sure how it implements the rather elaborate escaping rules, and why the double asterisk is so special as opposed to, for example, double slash. -- RadomirDopieralski, 26 Jan 2008
