Welcome Wiki Users!#
Wikis share common values, each wiki engine has it's strength and weaknesses. There are wikis for big communities, best for corporate usage depending on the it infrastructure and wikis that are simple to install and therefore ideal for personal usage. Users have different roles and might use therefore different wiki engines. Because wiki engines have different markup variants it makes them hard to use in combination.
Creole is a common wiki markup language to be used across different Wikis. It's not replacing existing markup but instead enabling wiki users to transfer content seamlessly across wikis. Creole will create a community of wikis users and developers that forms a Wiki Ohana. Ohana means family. This Wiki was initiated and originally set up at the Wiki Markup Standard Workshop at the Wikisym 06.
Some notes on the current installation#
This wiki was just set up, i will replcae the Add Comment tag with a Discussion tab. This will create Wikipedia style discussions. Add Comment just adds a comment to the page at the bottom, not cleanly seperating the page content from the discussion. Don't use the Add Comment tab, instead create a discussion page in the meanwhile. If you are not familiar with the markup you can change the editor from plain (default) to WikiWizard, which has buttons for all common elements. First startup will take a while because it is an applet but once it is downloaded and cached, it takes not more than 1 to 3 seconds to start.
If you have features from your wiki engine that you really miss, let me know.
